The first medical spa in Austin, TX to offer: Avéli® Cellulite Treatment
With so many cellulite treatment options, it can be hard to know what’s right for you. Avéli® is the latest advance in the fight against cellulite, and we have found this therapy to be particularly effective in delivering a smoother appearance to the skin on the thighs and buttocks.
Avéli is a minimally invasive, single treatment that is FDA cleared to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Body Tonic is the first medical spa in Austin, Texas to offer this advanced cellulite treatment. It works by manually cutting the connective tissue bands that pull on the skin, creating the dreaded dimples characteristic of cellulite.
Patients who have Avéli treatments should be in good health and have realistic expectations that they can expect to see smoother skin after treatment, but not necessarily 100% reduction in the appearance of cellulite. The treatment may be a good option in particular for women with busy schedules, since most women only need a single treatment to see the results they want.
If you are also interested in improving your body contour while treating cellulite, we offer several complimentary options worth considering. BTL Vanquish and Sciton SkinTyte can remove unwanted fat cells and help smooth out skin texture, so you can enjoy both the shape and skin tone you really want in your midsection, thighs, and buttocks.
Cellulite is caused by bands of connective tissue beneath the skin’s surface putting tension on the skin. The only lasting way to effectively remove cellulite is to release the tension from these tissue bands. Avéli works by cutting these bands in a precise, targeted way that allows us to create a smoother skin tone without over-treatment and with fewer side-effects.
Before starting treatment, we will administer local anesthetic in the area to be treated. The Avéli device is inserted through several small incisions and carefully guided beneath the skin to locate and sever the connective tissue bands creating cellulite dimples.
Total treatment time varies but on average, Avéli treatments are completed in about an hour.
Cellulite is a depression of various shapes visible on the skin surface, typically on the buttocks or thighs. The major underlying cause is fibrous bands that tether to the underlying skin structures, also known as septa.
These complex thickenings of fibrous tissue are part of the cellulite structure, like rigid, narrow bands pulling the skin downward and creating the typical effect of dimples on the skin’s surface. Some septa are good, but others shrink or stiffen, causing visible and embarrassing cellulite.
But don’t think cellulite is your fault or a loss of skin elasticity or poor skin quality. And don’t think of it as fat.
Because Avéli involves manipulating and cutting tissue beneath the skin, some bruising and swelling after treatment is expected. Some discomfort may occur for the first day or two after treatment, as the local anesthetic wears off. Bruising and tenderness may remain for up to a month, when your final results are revealed. Other complications are possible and we’ll discuss these with you so you know what to watch for.
