Brows Botox and Brightening in Austin, TX | Body Tonic Medical Spa And Wellness

Oh hey blog! It’s been a minute! I sure do miss getting to write about whatever great newness is happening here at Body Tonic, but dang it’s been crazy up in here since November! Bringing on our new electronic medical records software has been an experience to say the least. That first week Karen and I felt like we were drowning and on fire at the same time! We know it’s been frustrating for all of you too, with portal glitches and just having to be patient with us, and we are SUPER thankful to you for hanging in there with us. We should’ve ushered out 2019 by trashing some computers, Office Space style!

With most of the stress behind us, I’ve been lucky enough to get a few treatments in the last few weeks: I got some Dysport to keep the wrinkles at bay, and I got my annual brow touch up (thank god)! Leslie did nanoblading instead of microblading this time. Microblading is a manual technique of creating permanent eyebrows and nanoblading is a mechanized tool with tiny needles in it.

They look sooo gorgeous and she was able to fix some of my asymmetry as well. As a client remarked the other day, having your eyebrows done completely changes the shape of your face – in the best way.

Things to keep in mind if you’ve never had nanoblading done:

  1. The color will be pretty dark for at least a week. As it fades you may begin to notice your brows have a slight reddish tint…that’s just your skin still healing.
  2. Always come back for your touch up so you can have Leslie tweak anything, such as adding a few more strokes in certain places. The touch up appointment is included in the price.
  3. Over time, your brows will fade, so an annual touch up is needed.
  4. Keep in mind that if you have a significant amount of asymmetry in your brows like I do (my right side is a lot higher than my left), it can be a good idea to do your Botox/Dysport/Xeomin treatment about 2 weeks before you have your brow appointment. If you discuss with your injector that you want to even up your symmetry, they can inject in specific ways to help with that.

I look at it this way: if you have one brow higher than the other, and you do something that makes them darker or enhanced in any way, that enhancement just makes the asymmetry more noticeable. But if you even out with Botox first, and then Leslie does some extra perfecting with nanoblading, you can leave with smokin’ hot eyebrows.

I’ve also been getting a lot of compliments on my skin lately, but I haven’t had any skin treatments in quite some time. The only thing I’ve been doing differently is that I started using Skin Better’s Even Tone about 3 months ago. I also use Colorescience Even Up as my foundation every day. Even Tone is a non-hydroquinone, non-retinol based product that brightens skin tone and breaks up pigmentation. Even Up is also a skin brightener but includes coverage like a foundation does. We will have all of our pigmentation-treating products on special this month, and the Botox and Brows special will be available for all of February as well!
