We are welcoming a new member to our Body Tonic family, Sarah Wiser! She is a Registered Nurse with 15 years experience and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have her on our team. Here’s the story of her path to nursing and the evolution of her career, in her own words:
At 21, I started working in a nursing home. Never did I realize how much I would enjoy caring for the elderly. My favorite part about that job was getting to know the residents that lived there. They shared amazing stories, were full of wisdom, and gave great advice. After 8 months, I decided to change majors and go to nursing school.
I spent the first 10 years after I graduated at a Level 1 Trauma Center in Milwaukee, WI. I worked with the Plastic Surgery population and later transferred to the Trauma ICU.
My husband and I moved to Austin 5 years ago looking for warmer weather and new opportunities. I was drawn to aesthetics as I struggled with acne and was on antibiotics for 15 years. I understood how much the way we look and feel about ourselves really impacts our lives in so many ways. (Body Tonic was the first place I ever got Botox in Austin. I scheduled with Iris because she had such impressive reviews.)
Over the last four years I have been working as a Cosmetic Nurse Injector. I spent my first year working in a Med Spa in Bee Caves. I then took a job with one of the same Plastic Surgeons I worked with back in Milwaukee. He has an office in West Lake Hills where I worked over the last 3 years.
When I first took a job in aesthetics I was afraid people would not respect the work I was doing anymore. My grandmother actually started telling our family that I wasn’t a nurse anymore.
The last four years in aesthetics have been most rewarding years of my career. I love having the ability to give men and women the confidence that shines through in every aspect of their lives.
I live in Barton Hills with my husband, my elderly grandfather, and our 3 dogs.
I enjoy my Peloton and yoga. In the summer I can be found on the greenbelt hiking or out on Ladybird lake paddle boarding.
Next spring I will be pursuing advancing my degree and going back to school to be a Nurse Practitioner.
